Let’s Celebrate Our Spirit Together

Next year our diocese is marking a tremendous milestone, 2010 will be 300 years of Anglican worship. There are special events planned for next year, but there are also special events planned for this year. Each region in the diocese has been asked to plan an event of its choosing as lead up to 2010.

Our region has planned a weekend of events for June 5, 6 and 7. Dr. Tim Elliott and Judy Maddren will be with us. Tim is a work transition consultant whose doctoral work focused on vocation. He is a jazz pianist and former Anglican parish priest who started popular Jazz Vespers services. Through Elliott Resource Services, Tim offers programs that integrate music, spirituality, teamwork, creativity and business to encourage purposeful and responsible living for both organizations and individuals. And for fun, he is currently researching the connection between jazz and spirituality. Tim is married to CBC’S Judy Maddren, Judy was a CBC broadcaster who has retired to work on her Soundportraits business.

On Friday, June 5th the youth of the Island are invited to the Murray Christian Centre, Kensington at 6:45 pm., Tim will speak, followed by a Haunted house and a Pizza Party.

On Saturday, June 6th, everyone is invited to the Murray Christian Centre Kensington, starting at 9:00 a.m. Tim will speak in the morning and Judy will speak in the afternoon on, "Wisdom From Our Lives."

Saturday evening at 7:30 pm a concert will be held at St. Paul’s Church, Charlottetown with both Tim and Judy. This is a fundraiser for the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund. Everyone’s invited.

On Sunday Afternoon, June 7, 3 pm. there will be a praise and worship service at St. John’s, Milton. Tim will preach, the music will be provided by the Just for Fun Band, there will be a dramatic story telling by Judy and the celebrant is Bishop Ron Cutler. Everyone in the region is invited, and encouraged to come to this lively, and "Youthful" service of worship.
