2010 - A Journey Just Begun

1710 – 2010

The year 2010 marks 300 years of continuous Anglican Worship in our Diocese. It began with a Service of Thanksgiving at Port Royal on Oct. 10, 1710. With this service there has been continual Anglican Worship here. We also celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the opening of the Cathedral Church of All Saints, on September 10th, 1910. Our theme is "A journey Just Begun" from the Common Praise song "She Flies on."

The Diocesan Service of Celebration will be held at Exhibition Park, on Sunday, June 6th, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. just outside Halifax off the Bicentennial Highway and Highway 103 (near Bayers Lake Shopping area). We have changed the date (from the earlier October date) so that the members of General Synod (who are meeting in Halifax at that time) may join with us in our celebration. For people travelling from a distance by bus a box lunch will be available (at a reasonable cost) for the return journey home. For those driving, there is plenty of parking at Exhibition Park. There is wheelchair access. A Nursery/Daycare service will be available.

There is a church calendar marking our celebration with photos of diocesan churches. The diocese has applied to Canada Post for a commemoration stamp to mark our 2010 celebration. 2010 lapel pins cost $3.00 per pin and are available from the diocese.
